Tough Start to BSEC Championship for Lynn

Ireland’s newest motocross team Area 51 Racing made their first competitive outing of the ’11 season when their rider Robert Lynn took to the start line of the Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship at Saints Well, Mid Wales on February 12/13. Lynn, a championship winner of the ’10 series was hoping for a strong start to his ’11 campaign but instead struggled through a difficult weekend racing. Aggravating an old injury Saturday morning, Lynn started the day in the worst way possible and by mid day was struggling to walk let alone race. Faced with a course that was rapidly deteriorating each lap due to poor weather Robert soldiered on in pain to eventually finish the day 13th overall in Expert and 3rd ES1 Expert.

Unsure of whether to race or not on Sunday, Lynn decided to start the day taking it one lap at a time. With the course reversed on Sunday Robert’s day got off to a much better start posting the sixth fastest Expert time during the first run. Feeling more comfortable on the revised and shortened course, he backed up his result with seventh on the second run. With organisers deciding to cut the day short to three timed special tests, Lynn’s final test faired his worst coming stuck more than once dropping his final position to ninth overall in Experts but third ES1 Expert.

Robert Lynn: “I’m disappointed with how my weekend panned out. I was hoping for a much better result but after catching my leg numerous times on the first day I wasn’t able to ride in comfort. Unsure of what to do, I continued on basically to get some race time under my belt. Hopefully things will be much better at the next round of the championship.”
