Thor’s Taylor Robert Clinches WORCS Title With 1-1 Sweep

After narrowly missing out on the World Off Road Championship Series title in 2011, Thor’s Taylor Robert has proven himself this year by clinching the WORCS championship one race early. In 100 degree temperatures at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, Calif., Robert claimed his sixth overall victory of the season on his way to clinching the title.

Along with Robert’s success this weekend, Thor’s Blake Baggett also put together a favorable weekend at Round 9 of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship Series. Baggett claimed his fourth overall win of the season with a late race charge in the second 250 moto at MotoX 338 in Southwick, Mass. With his 3-1 moto result, Baggett extended his points lead to 24 over second place.

The 450 class saw the return of Thor’s Broc Tickle to the podium after two hard fought motos. Tickle started the day by picking up the top qualifier award and then transferred his early morning speed to both motos, where he posted a 6-4 result for third overall. After a tough opening moto, Thor’s Tyla Rattray came out swinging in Moto 2 as he claimed his first moto win in the 450 class. The multi-time 250 class winner at Southwick held off stiff competition on the last lap to propel him to fifth overall with a 20-1 moto result.

Thor’s Mike Brown also had a solid day in the 450 class, finishing sixth overall with a 9-7 moto result. Jake Weimer could be up for this week’s hard charger award after his Moto 1 effort coming back 37th on the opening lap to finish 13th. Along with a 19th in Moto 2, Weimer finished 18th overall. Newcomer to the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship Series, Kurt Caselli competed in his first race since April when he was injured at an AMA National Hare and Hound race. Caselli adjusted well to the unique track and finished 28th overall with a 25-24 moto result.
