With another free weekend in the calendar for the Albion Kawasaki rider, Alex Snow decided to try his hand at something a little different from motocross to enduro. With the sun shining brightly and temperatures at last starting to pick up Alex was keen to put last weekends disastrous day behind him have a go at a more relaxed type of race offering some good bike time of two and a half hours.

With the unusual dead engine start appose to a normal start gate, this would seem to big the biggest challenge of the day, would the big 450cc machine fire up quick? The answer to that being, not as quick as Snow would of liked as it took him three kicks to get off the line against the majority of riders who were riding 2-strokes.

With some all important motocross skills Snow quickly used his speed to catch back up and quickly slotting in to 4th before the first wooded section where he was forced to follow the leading riders until they hit the next open field . Then quickly moving into 2nd were he hunted the leader down before a mistake by the racer lead handed the lead to Snow were he didn’t look back. Quickly getting into his rhythm and learning the track he stretched out a strong lead. By the end of the first pit stop he was over 2 minutes ahead and was able increase that even more in the second half of the race, even with a couple of mistakes himself towards the end of the race was not able to hamper his progress and eventually completed 11 laps with a gap of over 6 minutes on the second place rider.

Another good result for the Snow family as Alex’s younger brother Harry also came in a strong 4th position just missing the podium by 10 seconds.

‘’Today has been really fun, it something a little different to what I’m usually used to but i believe it is still great for your bike skills and time in the seat. I felt really fit and strong come the end of the race as well so I know my fitness was looking good to.’’ Commented Snow

Alex’s next outing will be this weekend at his home race of the Red Bull pro nationals at Landrake near Plymouth.
