Norwich and District - Mildenahall

After a very wet week, Mildenhall was the host of the 3rd round of the Norwich and District club championship sponsored by Sharp systems.

First to take to the very wet and muddy track was the adults in the first of 2 Qualifying races. Luke Benstead comfortably took the win in the first race and Paul Bennett stormed to victory in the 2nd.

In A group it was a tough fight for the first few laps between Luke Benstead, Chris Place and Will Kerry, however no one could keep with Benstead and he pulled a gap, eventually taking the flag. Race 2 was set to repeat the first until a fall by Will Kerry saw him drop back through the pack, he managed to regain to 5th. Luke Benstead took the overall, Chris Place rode consistently to 2nd with Paul Bennett rounding up the top 3 spots.

In B group, There was another hard fought battle, while Oscar Stearn lead the pack, Shane whittle held off Sam Wigger and Marc Nickerson who pulled through from a mid pack start to finish 4th.
In there second race it was Marc Nickerson who raced to the front and lead until Shane Whittle made a move to take the win in the closing laps. With a 2nd in race 1 it was Shane Whittle who took the Overall with Marc Nickerson in 2nd and Oscar Stearn rounding up the top 3 Overall.

The first of the youth classes, was the Auto riders on there shortened track, although included the large table top and step-up, with George Grigg Petitt who took a hat Rick of wins, followed by James Dutton and Freddie Flowers swapping positions, but it was James Dutton who came out with 2nd overall after finishing in front of Freddie Flowers in race 3.

The 65cc rider Kane fisher had a battle on his hands when William Wall took the lead and the win in race one, however Kane Fisher took the lead and the flag in the remaining races to clinch the overall in front of William Wall, with Jake Warner finishing 3rd overall.

In the 85cc Small Wheel Group, Ben Cole again showed his domination of this season once again by taking another Hat trick of wins, Tom Pallett rode 3 consistent races to take the 2nd place overall. Declan Whittle came in to take the 3rd overall.

The 85cc Big Wheels saw Shaun Southgate took the victory in race 1 ahead of David Kemp and Rob Hales. In race 2 it was David Kemps turn to take the chequered flag ahead of Rob Hales and Shaun Southgate. Race 3 looked as if it was going to mirror the 2nd race until an unfortunate incident saw Shaun Southgate drop to 13th, and a 3rd overall.

The Youth 125cc races saw Tom Bennett finished 1st overall with yet another Hat trick of wins, behind him was a close battle between the chasing pack of Dean Goggins, Craig Maddock and James Palmer.

The next round is at Sculthorpe on the 27th July.
