Merthyr Motocross Club at Blackwood

THERE were thrills and spills aplenty at the Manmoel race track, as Cynon Valley Motocross riders went full throttle for the finish line.

The Blackwood venue hosted Merthyr Motocross Club’s event and there were some superb results, with Mark Holloway winning the MX2 seniors class.

Chris Bird, of Gadlys, Aberdare, was second in the same category, while Kevin Williams was runner-up in the Ex-Pents (top class).

Lance Parry was third in the MX1 race.

Adam Williams and Josh Jones, both of Cwmaman, Scott Lewis, of Cwmdare, and Corrie McShane and Daniel McShane were also among the Aberdare contingent at the races.

Around 180 riders competed, with good racing in all classes – including spectacular downhill jumps launching racers up to 30-foot into the air.

Merthyr Motocross Club meets every other Thursday at the Guest Club in Dowlais and attracts riders from all over Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff.
