Paulin struggles in Swedish MX GP

The action packed MX Grand Prix of Sweden was marred by rain yet created a mix up in the MX1 title hunt. Kawasaki Racing’s, Gautier Paulin, battled to come to terms with the slippery Uddevalla underground all weekend and had to make the most of a roller coaster weekend.

Starts were the key to the muddy conditions and as the gate dropped for moto one Paulin went into the first turn aggressively but ran wide and got caught in the mayhem. Making as many passes as possible on the first laps he tried to settle into a race rhythm but could not progress as he wanted to and settled for 7th.

A welcomed batch of sunshine dried the track conditions somewhat for moto 2 however a one-lined circuit would make passing difficult. Paulin was once again in the middle of a gaggle of riders jostling for positions in the first turn. He kept his cool and tried not to make many mistakes however he was not confident on the rutted and rough circuit and salvaging 9th place was the best the Frenchman could do.

“Today was tough for me” admitted Paulin “The track conditions were quite difficult and I was not confident with my riding which you need to be on this type of surface. The bike worked well but I did not want to ride over my limit and take any risks. The championship changed really fast this weekend as we saw with Antonio and I’m disappointed I could not take advantage of the situation but Latvia is a circuit that I really like and I will continue to work hard and push for the team and myself.”

Round 10 of the 16 round series will take place in Latvia on the 14-15 July on a circuit that favours Paulin.
