Max Nagl

German Max Nagl competes in the MXGP class of the FIM World Motocross Championship for Team HRC. Born in Weilheim on 7th August 1987, he began riding at the age of five and won his first race just three years later. In 2000, at the age of 13, he won the German 85cc national title, and he made his GP debut in the MX2 race at Teutschenthal, Germany in 2003.

After taking the victories at the national ADAC championships in 2004 and 2006, he made the jump to the premier category – he made his MX1 debut at the Benelux GP at Valkenswaard in 2007, and he soon picked up his first podium place at Bellpuig, Spain, on his way to an 18th place overall.

He took his first GP victory on a KTM in just his second season at Mantova, Italy, when he finished sixth in the overall standings, and he was runner-up to Toni Cairoli in the series in 2009. He continued to pick up consistent results in 2010 and 2011, when he finished fourth and fifth respectively, but 2012 was affected by injury and he finished the season back in 16th place.

For 2013 he joined the Honda stable, riding a CRF450R. He recovered from a pre-season hand injury to secure three podiums before being struck down by a virus that meant he missed the final four rounds of the season, but he returned for the Motocross of Nations, where he finished a strong fourth in the final race.
