Kristian Whatley

Bournemouth-born Kristian Whatley is a professional motocross rider for the MBO Sport Yamaha team. After a couple of rough years with Samsung Yamaha, LPE Kawasaki and PAR Honda, he dominated the domestic British motocross scene in 2013, winning the MX1 triple crown of Maxxis British Championship, Red Bull Pro Nationals and British Masters.

He secured his British title in the final round at historic Farleigh Castle, winning the first two races and finishing sixth in the third race after crashing. He had been consistent over the course of the season, finishing in the top three overall in six out of the seven rounds, and eventually winning overall by 46 points from Jonathan Barragan.

In the seven-round Red Bull series, Kristian and his team were unbeatable. He began as he meant to continue with a 1-1-2 at Landrake Moto Parc, and took all seven overall wins in the series, securing the title with one round still remaining. Over the course of the year, he won an incredible fifteen out of a possible twenty one races.

It was a lot for Kristian to live up to in 2014, and he couldn’t quite repeat the magic. Wiith one round of the British Championship remaining, he currently lies in second place overall – best performance of the year came in the sixth round at Cusses Gorse, where he recorded his first race win of the season on his way to the second step of the podium. He also finished second in the MX1 competition at the Pro Nationals Festival.
