IMBA MX2 – Germany Results
In scorching heat, Team AMCA Great Britain again gave their all as they battled hard to earn vital MX2 IMBA European Championship points at Wisskirchen in Germany. Typifying that Great British spirit was Lewis Abbott, who finished top AMCA rider on the day in a fantastic 4th overall despite being in pain from a badly twisted ankle sustained whilst practising earlier in the week!!. Of the remaining British riders, Paul Neale was right on the pace in 5th overall with Scott Mathia 13th and Shane Holmes 18th.
On a circuit littered with stones, the Brits made a great start in moto one with Paul Neale bagging a fantastic 2nd spot with Shane Holmes 6th and Lewis Abbott 7th. Earlier in the moto, Abbott had held 3rd before jarring that already painful ankle in a Wisskirchen rut!!. Also suffering in the opener was the unfortunate Scott Mathia who was brought down in the opening turn before gallantly recovering to 21st at the flag.
Moto two and incredibly, Scott was again a early faller whilst race one star Neale found himself back in 13th. Taking top slot on this occasion for Team GB was the brave Abbott, earning a very strong 3rd placing. After their earlier problems both Neale and Mathia stormed back in style to get home in 9th and 15th respectively whilst Holmes was 16th.
Abbott was then the quickest Brit away again in the final German clash with Mathia enjoying better fortune on this occasion to slot into 8th with Holmes 10th and Neale 11th. Quickly Neale was moving up the leaderboard and ready to insert heavy pressure on the leading pack before crashing on lap nine. Whilst Dutchman John Cuppen stormed to his third moto win of the day, Abbott in obvious pain slipped back to 8th at the flag. Leading AMCA rider in moto three was Mathia in 7th with Neale 12th and Holmes unfortunately dropping downfield to 33rd.

The team will now make the long trip down to Italy for part 2 of the double header, see next week’s news for Results.

Wessex/South Wales go Super-Senior
The Wessex South Wales group are piloting a Super Senior class on the 17th June as the Hereford club return to Walterstone following further track enhancements since their first meeting of the season. Many riders have given feedback to the group that there is an ever growing gap between the Seniors and Experts, the Experts is a very competitive group that is bursting with top championship regulars. It’s hoped that the class will appeal to those experts struggling with the fast pace set by established championship regulars and also some of the faster seniors within the group.

Interest is set to be high in the group, to sign in riders can book in on line as all MX1 & MX2 Seniors and MX1 & MX2 Experts will have an extra tab enabled to enter the class. The class will be unlimited for both MX1 & MX2 riders and any out of group riders are welcome on a freedom of choice entry. If interest is high enough the group hope to make the class a regular addition to the race day programme.
