Many people are saying that Tony Cairoli’s ride at this years Motocross of Nations was quite possibly the best single performance ever and who are we to argue.

If you were there or watched LIVE on the web or on TV you may agree as Tony swept to three masterly victories, even with Jeffrey Herlings chasing hard in the final moto, Cairoli had the speed and skill to take the win.

If you take a look at the lap chart below you will see that once Herlings closed he didn’t have enough speed to pass the Italian, Cairoli said afterwards he could have went faster if needed.

Tony Cairoli: “I’m really happy for the victory in the individual ranking of the Nations. I dictated the rhythm in the first moto and managed to keep the gap on Herlings during the second one. I kicked off really fast and then I managed the race to then boost up at the very last. I’m glad for this win in Lommel, that’s a track that I really enjoy riding on. It’s a pity that we’ve lost the podium for a few points but Guarneri and Lupino gave their best. Unfortunately Davide slipped at the beginning. Now let’s hope for an even better result next year”.
