Tom Church gets set for Sheffield Supercross

British Supercross champion Tom Church pounds out the laps on his own supercross track ready to start the defence of his title at Sheffield on Saturday.

Church, helped by his cousin and former racer Mark Hucklebridge who is recovering from chemotherapy, looked smooth, fast and confident for MOTO’s camera just four days before the SX kick off.

He’s mounted on an ex-Jake Nicholls 250SXF KTM, now fitted with an electric start and some super-stiff suspension suited to the big impacts of supercross.

“Supercross is getting bigger in the UK every year, and more riders and teams taking it seriously,” said ex-GP rider Church. “It’s almost like a full line up of top riders from the Maxxis British championship.”

Church aims to ride the 250 in both the SX2 and SX1 races but may swop to the 350 if he finds the little bike isn’t quick enough against 450s.

“You know riders like Brad Anderson will be going fast. he may not be the best at super cross technically, but he’s always determined and very fast.”
