Buildbase Albion Honda Youth Team rider Josh Gilbert once again set the pace in Sunday`s qualifying at Milton Park. No one could match the speed of the 150 four stroke rider around the hard packed circuit.
Race one saw Gilbert hit the front on the first lap and hold a steady lead. At the halfway stage, Josh made a mistake which dropped him back to third and seemingly from nowhere, a battle commenced between Robert Yates, Todd Kellett and Gilbert. The leading trio pulled a big gap over the rest of the field, then the front pair pulled two seconds on Gilbert but took each other out on a tight right-hander two bends from the chequered flag, handing Gilbert the win.
Race two saw Gilbert hit the front again, but under pressure, Josh made a mistake and dropped the bike. The following bunch grabbed their chance and quickly demoted the Honda rider to 7th spot. This time out, Kellett made no mistakes and took the flag from Will Keogh and Jordan Eccles.
In a field dominated by the two-stroke bikes, Josh showed his speed and was unlucky not to be on the podium once again. He gained some consolation by being first Honda home.
The next outing for the young Honda racer will be at the Red Bull Pro National event in Whitby next week.
See you there.
