Another track looks set to bite the dust

BISHOPTON residents have won their campaign against a motocross track near Stratford-upon-Avon because planning officers agree with them that it is too loud.

However, Guy Wright, who owns the track at Cophams Hill Farm, believes both Stratford-on-Avon District Council and the residents have conducted themselves disgracefully.

Mr Wright started racing motocross bikes last summer, and applied for retrospective planning permission after he installed jumps on the circuit. He will now have to stop holding races though, after it emerged this week that the council plan to refuse his planning application.

“I am pretty bitter about it to tell you the truth,” he said. “We know for a fact residents were told a pack of lies to get signatures on bits of paper. The amount of meetings we were asking for was eight [per year], but they were telling people it would be every Sunday.”
