Maxxis was founded in Taiwan in 1967 and has since become one of the world’s leading high-quality tyre companies, available in 170 countries and employing more than 25,000 people. It currently maintains five state-of-the-art research facilities around the world, in Taiwan, China, the United States and the Netherlands, and is the original equipment supplier of motorcycle tyres to Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki.

The development of the UK arm of the company dates back to 1983, and Maxxis International UK is well-known for sponsoring the ACU British Motocross Championship, better known as the ‘Maxxis’, since 2004. This is now one of the major domestic motocross series in the world, attracting not only the very best and talented British riders but also a number of top-class international riders.

The current Maxxis moto range features tyres for hard, intermediate, sand, soft and sports touring use. Popular models include the Maxxcross SI, developed and tested at the Grand National Cross Country Series and delivering excellent traction in soft/intermediate conditions, and the Maxxcross SM, an exclusive sand and mud tyre which combines a mud-repelling, silica-based compound with a computer-enhanced tread design.

The Maxxcross SX, IT, SI and SM are also commonly used in the American AMA National Motocross Championship, while the SX and IT models are popular in the AMA Supercross Series, particularly the SX which has a low knob height to help the rider maintain control at extreme lean angles.
